Robbers strike Puchong jewellery store

PUCHONG: In the midst of the Bersih 5 rally in the city centre, a band of robbers seized the opportunity to rob a jewellery store in Puchong and carted away eight trays of jewellery.
Serdang district police chief ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias said police were informed about the robbery at 11am.
"Six men, wearing motorcycle helmets and vests were armed with three hammers when they robbed the store located on the ground floor of a hypermarket.
"Four robbers barged into the shop, while the remaining two stood guard," he said when contacted.
It is learnt that the suspects who kept watch waited in a silver Toyota Wish as their accomplices carted the trays of jewellery," he added.
Aminuddin said that the suspects managed to flee the scene after pulling off the heist.
A manhunt was initiated following the incident and police are in the midst of ascertaining the value of the losses from the robbery.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
