PUTATAN: The change in Sabah's political landscape will be among the issues to be raised by Sabah Umno Liaison at the party's 66th General Assembly commencing Nov 29.

Sabah Umno Liaison secretary Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin (pix) said Sabah Umno wanted to broach the issue as it was a new challenge that the party would potentially face.

"We will bring up topics such as the emergence of new political parties, the about-face by a former prime minister as well as a former Umno leader, and lots more other political issues," he said.

Yahya who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister told reporters this, after launching a programme organised by the Sabah Special Affairs Department here today.

Hopefully by debating the issue at length during the general assembly, Umno Sabah would obtain input on handling it, he said.
Another issue that Sabah Umno would emphasise on is the sluggish world economy and its impact on the lives of Malaysians in Sabah.

Yahya said although the poverty rate had dropped to 4%, there was still room for improvement in the state's poverty eradication agenda.

On the RM3.78 billion state 2017 budget allocation, Yahya who is also state Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, said it was a comprehensive surplus budget.

He said the budget themed, 'People At Heart, Prosperity For All', which was tabled by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman yesterday, encompassed all sectors toward prosperity for every segment of society in Sabah. — Bernama
