Govt agency director, two contractors remanded over corruption probe in Labuan

LABUAN: A Labuan federal government agency director and two contractors were remanded today for seven days to facilitate investigation into the RM12-million food court being built in Tg Purun here.
The 59-year-old director and the contractors, in their 40s, were ordered to be remanded after they were brought to the magistrate's court. Magistrate Haizah Tamin allowed the application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigating officer for the trio to be remanded for seven days.
The MACC has frozen 12 bank accounts of the director which had a total of RM899,000 believed to be part of the alleged millions of ringgit garnered through corruption.
The director was detained on Monday at about 11.50am at the Putrajaya MACC headoffice, while the two contractors were detained at 6.30pm at the Labuan MACC office.
The suspects are being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. — Bernama
