Ten years on, the 'Gilmore Girls' are back

ON Nov 25, the noughties cult series Gilmore Girls is to make a comeback on Netflix with a new season of four 90-minute episodes.
In the wake of Arrested Development and Full House, the American video on demand platform is set to stream the latest adventures of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, the heroines of the Gilmore Girls, a series that aired between 2000 and 2007 on the WB and subsequently CW networks.
If you are curious to find out what has become of Lorelai and Rory, the intensely close mother and daughter duo, over the last ten years, you will have to wait until Nov 25. Netflix is determined to give nothing away. Only one thing is certain, and that is that all of the key characters of the original series have decided to participate in this long-awaited comeback.
Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, who play the two heroines will be joined by many of the residents of Stars Hollow. Scott Patterson, the actor who plays Luke, will be back, as will be Rory's former boyfriends.
Matt Czuchry (Logan), who starred in The Good Wife, Milo Ventimiglia (Jess), whose talents are currently on display in This is Us and Jared Padalecki (Dean), who has played in Supernatural, will be part of the show. Even Melissa McCarthy has found time in her tightly packed schedule to once again take on the role of Sookie.
But one character will be missing
Only Richard Gilmore, Lorelai's father, will be absent following the death of actor Edward Herrmann in 2014. This sad news will in fact be included in the screenplay for the first episode which is to begin at Richard Gilmore's funeral.
The Gilmore Girls comeback will take the form of four extra-long 90-minute episodes that recount an entire year in the lives of Lorelai and Rory. Each episode will correspond to a particular season, with episode one focusing on winter.
This latest salvo will likely reconcile fans with the series and finally provide them with a much longed for ending. The seventh season was unusual in as much as the first to be broadcast on the CW network, which had failed to retain the services of the series' creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino. However, Sherman-Palladino has participated in the Gilmore Girls comeback which will feature an ending that is more in line with what she imagined for the original show. — AFP Relaxnews
