KUALA LUMPUR: It is pointless for the country to achieve progress and a stable economy if the security of the nation, especially the people, is compromised, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Ahmad Zahid who is also Home Minister said the ministry (KDN), through the various agencies under it, including the police force, would not compromise on the issue of security and was always concerned about public safety.
"Each year, the ministry shows its concern about social issues, especially in security because there is no compromise on this. The ministry wants to get close to the hearts of the people," he said here today.
He was speaking at the launch of the KDN Exhibition Area in conjunction with the 2016 UMNO General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre here today, which was also attended by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim and the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim.
Ten of the ministry's agencies and divisions are involved in the exhibition, including the Royal Malaysia Police, the National Anti-Drugs Agency, the National Registration Department, the Registrar of Societies, Immigration Department and the Prisons Department.
On the exhibition, Ahmad Zahid said it was important for the ministry and the agencies under it to share with the public the services it offered so that society would understand better their roles in protecting them. — Bernama
