PETALING JAYA: MCA is disappointed that Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun (pix) has chosen "to lecture" its president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai on how to win seats in the coming general election.
MCA Youth Young Professionals and Varsity Students' Affairs Bureau chairman Eric Choo Wei Sern said it was ironic that Azwan, who has never contested in any election, is attempting "tell" Liow, a four-term MP, on how to win more seats.
"Azwan had alleged that MCA was demanding more seats but not finding solutions. MCA had loaned Umno three parliamentary seats the last general election.
"Umno lost all of them - Gelang Patah, Kuantan and Wangsa Maju. MCA is confident that it can wrest back these seats," Choo said.
He said Azwan urging MCA to train its guns on DAP is clear that the Umno man was either ignorant or refused to accept the fact that MCA has been consistent in attacking all political opponents who had been destroying the fabric and development of this nation.
He pointed out that MCA had slammed DAP for working with PAS as its efforts of strengthening PAS had led to the current private member bill.
He added that on many occasions MCA had pointed out the flaws of DAP's administration in Penang.
"Leaders like Azwan are constantly helping BN's opponents by feeding them more ammunition to fight against both MCA and BN," Choo said in a statement today.
He added that if Azwan wants to fill in the big shoes of Khairy Jamaluddin as the next Umno Youth chief, he should emulate the latter on how to be a more comprehensive leader.
Choo urged Azwan to start working with component parties to wrest back more seats instead of causing more damage to the coalition.
