Student drowns while bathing in river in Batu Pahat

JOHOR BARU: The Form One student who went missing while bathing with his friends in a river in Batu Pahat yesterday, was found drowned today.
The body of Mohd Irfan Nor Hakim, 13, was found by the search and rescue team at 8.10am today, about 200m from the spot he was last seen.
Batu Pahat police chief ACP Abdul Wahib Musa said the victim was said to have not returned home by 7pm yesterday after leaving the house for a bath in the river with his four friends.
"This prompted his father, Nor Hakim Hashim, and their neighbours to go looking for the boy at the river, only to find the bicycle and clothing worn by his son piled up on the riverbank," he said in a statement here today.
The body was sent to Batu Pahat Hospital and the case being classified as drowning. — Bernama
