Najib: Malaysia shares Indonesia's grief over quake

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak conveyed his condolences to the families of victims of the earthquake that struck the Aceh province in Indonesia today.
"Condolences to the families of the victims of the Aceh earthquake. Malaysia shares Indonesia's grief," the Prime Minister said in a post on his Twitter account.
Najib said Malaysia was ready to send any aid that Indonesia required.
The Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency confirmed that 52 people had been killed in the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the Pidie Jaya district of Aceh province at 5.03am (6.03am in Malaysia).
The quake caused widespread damage to buildings.
The Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, said no Malaysians in Indonesia were affected by the earthquake. — Bernama
