Eight couples married at mass wedding

LANGKAWI: Eight couples were married today at a mass wedding conducted at Masjid Al-Ehsan Kampung Temonyong here.

The programme, organised by the mosque committee, was attended by about 500 guests.

The mosque Imam, Mohd Shazuri Saad said it was the first mass wedding organised by the mosque and was intended to help reduce the burden of the families of the brides and bride-grooms concerned.

"The feast for the wedding reception is fully sponsored by the mosque," he said, adding that following the success of the programme, it could be made an annual event.

He was met by reporters after the wedding reception.

The couples who were married today comprised Muhammad Aidilfitri Abd Halim and Siti Nurfitrah Mofftar; Mohamad Yusri Zan and Siti Syazwani Sa'adat; Mohamad Azizan Bahari and Noor Hamizah Halim; Mohd Nasrun Afendi Ali and Siti Aishah Marjani; Mohd Khairol Suberi and Nur Ika Natasya Ahmad; Muhamad Shah Yahaya and Norhashikin Hassan; Muhammad Shafiq Abdul Karim and Nur Hasliza Rosli; and Roslan Bahari and Sharifah Hasnor Mat Rejab. — Bernama
