Nepalese national charged with murder

TELUK INTAN: A Nepalese national, who is an oil palm factory worker, was charged in the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court with the murder of a lorry driver earlier this month.
Suruj Dev Sah Teli, 32, was charged with the murder of R. Harithas, 34, at the victim's house in Kampung Mutiara Batu 10, Jalan Hutan Melintang at 2.30am on Dec 2.
The suspect, who has been residing in the country for about 10 years and was fluent in the Malay language, only nodded that he understood the charge read in front of Magistrate Intan Nurul Farena Zainal Abidin, but no plea was recorded.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for the death sentence upon conviction.
Intan Farena later fixed Jan 13 2017 as the date for remention of the case while waiting for the chemistry and autopsy report on the victim.
Prosecution was carried out by Deputy Public Prosecutor Amirul Asyraf Abdul Rashid, while the suspect was not represented by counsel. — Bernama
