KUALA LUMPUR: The Civil Defence Force (APM) is targeting two million voluntary members next year, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim (pix).
He said the additional volunteers would be recruited in stages from next month to operate APM assets.
"At present APM only has 3,000 personnel nationwide and the number is insufficient.
"For example, in the whole of Kuala Kangsar, there is only one APM personnel on duty and volunteers are needed to handle assets such ambulances, boats and so on," he told Bernama here today.
Shahidan said APM wanted more voluntary members to be placed at every district to ensure all rescue operations run smoothly. — Bernama
