KUALA LUMPUR: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has allocated RM20.5 million for the subsidised mammogram programme next year.
Its Deputy Minister Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun (pix) said the program would benefit about 65,000 women in this country.
The provision would allow a screening test for the early detection of breast cancer, she said when winding up debate on the Supply Bill 2017 at Dewan Negara today.
In addition, free HPV vaccine will also be given to women born between 1990 and 1996 in order to reduce the risk of developing cervical cancer within the next 20 years, she added. — Bernama
