Penang Gerakan question exact size of STP2 land reclamation

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Gerakan has urged the DAP-led state government to reveal the exact size of the Seri Tanjung Pinang 2 (STP2) land reclamation.
Its spokesman Ooi Zhi Yi said based on the figure stated by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and E&O Berhad last year, the total size of the reclamation was more than 360ha.
However, in the previous state assembly, State Public Works, Utility and Transport Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng had revealed that the reclamation size in STP2 was about 343ha.
"The statement from Hock Seng varies from what had been announced by Guan Eng and E&O. We want to know, what the actual acreage of the reclaimed area is," he said in a press conference here today.
According to Gerakan's calculation, the missing 16.5ha is worth RM2.32 billion as the price of the reclaimed land has been set by the state government to be RM1,300 per square feet.
Ooi added that if there was a change from the original plan, a new Detailed Environmental Impact Assessment (DEIA) should have been conducted as the reclaimed area was now smaller. — Bernama
