THE Italian fashion house has brought themes of nature and freedom to its spring/summer 2017 campaign, showcasing sporty pieces from its menswear and womenswear collections.
To show off its latest collection, Versace has picked British model Edie Campbell and German model Anna Ewers, both of whom featured in the label's last catwalk show. The pair can be seen posing alongside horses in an equestrian-themed shoot set in the US's vast Kentucky countryside.
"This is a collection about the dynamic moment and the freedom of the Versace life," explains Donatella Versace, the label's artistic director, who also designed the campaign.
While Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid played active urban women for the fall/winter 2016 collection, the new faces star as nature lovers, enjoying the freedom of the great outdoors in photos for the spring/summer 2017 campaign. One of the first shots revealed shows Edie Campbell balancing on a horse in the nylon parka that she wore to open the catwalk show back in September.
For menswear, the label has once again signed up Filip Hrivnak, Vadim Ivanov, Jake Lahrman, William Los, Geron McKinley, Simon Nessman and Mitchell Slaggert.
The campaign was shot by American photographer and filmmaker Bruce Weber, who also shot the fall/winter 2016 campaign.
"Creating the visual campaign for Donatella's new collection has been exciting because it involves nature and horses and freedom," explains Bruce Weber. "Freedom of choice, freedom of expression and freedom of speech. I think it's always interesting that fashion can carry messages in a subtle way and make people think about their own lives and how they can make it better."
In recent months, Edie Campbell has starred in ads for H&M, Mango and Isabel Marant, while Anna Ewers featured in campaigns for Alexander Wang, Hugo Boss Parfums, Calvin Klein and Miu Miu. — AFP Relaxnews
