Engineer beaten up by five men at Tanjung Kupang R&R

ISKANDAR PUTERI: An engineer went through a horrific ordeal after he was beaten up by five men at the Tanjung Kupang R&R after a car chase at about 1.30am this morning.

Iskandar Puteri police chief Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said the victim was driving from Singapore towards Gelang Patah, intending to back to his home at Gelang Patah. After his car passed the Second Link CIQ and a nearby plaza toll, the victim noticed a man was waving a baseball bat at him and ordered him to stop.

The victim sped off. After a few miles, he stopped his car at Tanjung Kupan R&R as it was a place with people and thought he could maybe seek help from someone there.

Suddenly, three cars, including the man with the baseball bat, surrounded his car. A fight broke out but it did not last long as people nearby noticed the commotion.

The five suspects fled after beating the man up.

The victim's wife, who was with him, later sent the victim to seek medical treatment. The victim suffered injuries on his right shoulder, back and forehead.

Police said the motive was uncertain and it could be due to personal disputes. Police classified the case as assault, under Section 324 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term up to three years or whipping, or fine upon conviction.
