KUALA LUMPUR: Political cartoonist Zunar (pix) and four others arrested at an event on Saturday were released on police bail from the Dang Wangi police headquarters around 12am today.
They were detained at a fundraising event at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall.
Besides Zunar, the others detained were his sales assistants Megat Abdul Wahid and Lawrence Jeyaraj, along with DAP member Jimmy Wong and a fan who wished to be known as A. Toong.
It is learnt that Zunar, Megat and Lawrence are being investigated under Section 124c of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy while the other two under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of his duties.
Zunar, whose real name is Zulkiflee SM Anwarul Haque said that he did nothing wrong as the fundraiser was a private event with his fans.
"We were questioned for eight hours and I was trying to recuperate my losses with this event but they took away another RM30,000 worth of books today," he said in his Facebook posting.
This is the second time Zunar has been arrested in less than a month. His earlier arrest was in Penang after an altercation at an exhibition of his drawings.
