KULAI: The Daesh militant group is believed to have set their eyes on attacking security agencies' firearm stores and public places.
"Our intelligence reveal that these two are their main targets of attack and thus all security agencies must tighten up their security measures on their firearm stores," Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pix) said at the closing of the 28th Malaysian Auxillary Police Association Annual Meeting at Senai Palm Resort today.
He said there are 235 security agencies including auxillary police nationwide and their firearm stores are very "loose", thus there is a need to tighten the security as per the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the police.
"In view of this, the Bukit Aman's Firearm Licensing Department officials will go on the ground to ensure the agencies have complied to the SOP," he added.
On cartoonist Zulkifli Anwar Ulhaque, who is popularly known as Zunar, Khalid cautioned him against seeking public donation for himself.
"The police seized his books and he is asking donation for the seized books," he said, adding that there are laws governing the seeking of public donations.
Khalid said the police has nothing against cartoonists or any form of art, but they will not compromise when one makes seditious remarks against the nation's leaders.
Police had seized more than 1,000 of Zunar's books. He was arrested on Dec 17 in Kuala Lumpur by Dang Wangi police.
On another issue, Khalid said they have investigated some 15 non-governmental organisations suspected of receiving foreign funds allegedly to topple the government.
However, he declined to disclose details nor as to when the investigations will be completed.
On Mat Rempit, he said police were issuing thousands of summons every day, including to motorcyclists who flout the traffic laws.
He said the Mat Rempit issue was serious and children must be taught at a young age to adhere to traffic laws, road safety and inculcate good road ethics.
