Retract and apologise or face defamation suit, Musa Hassan tells Raja Petra

PETALING JAYA: Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Musa Hassan has threatened to file a defamation suit against a blogger for accusing him of being involved in opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's second sodomy case.
Musa said he would lodge a police report and file the suit against Raja Petra Kamarudin if the latter does not retract his statement and apologise within 14 days beginning today (Dec 21) for an article he wrote in Malaysia Today titled How Mukhriz is Going to Become PM.
"Raja Petra mentioned in his article dated Dec 15 that it was me and former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail who fixed Anwar up, and are (former premier) Tun Dr Mahathir's running dogs.
"This is a slander without facts, proof and principle. The case was tried in court, and there were no facts about fixing that was challenged by the defendant.
"I am of the opinion that this is a slander meant to tarnish my dignity, hence, it is time for me to take defamation action against him (Raja Petra)," he told a press conference, here, today.
Raja Petra, in the article, said it was Mahathir, through Gani and Musa, who fixed Anwar up on the case, but shifted the blame to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak instead.
Musa, however, stressed that Najib, like Mahathir, was not involved in the sodomy 2 case.
"Mahathir is not behind this. He was not even called for investigation. This is between the complainant and the defendant themselves.
"There was no meddling, not even by Najib. Yes, true, he (Najib) is not involved in the case," he said, adding that he was clueless as to why Raja Petra accused him of being involved.
Musa said he would file the suit here in Malaysia although Raja Petra is currently in the United Kingdom after he fled the country in 2010 to avoid detention without trial then.
Anwar is currently serving a five-year jail term in Sungai Buloh Prison after the Federal Court, on Feb 10, 2015, upheld his conviction and sentence imposed by the Court of Appeal on March 7, 2014 for sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
He was alleged to have committed the offence at Unit 11-5-1 of Desa Damansara Condominium in Jalan Setiakasih, Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur between 3.10pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.
