KUALA LUMPUR: A 14 year old girl who ran away from home has left her mother feeling worried and distraught.
Chin Pui San, a 41 year old single mother said that her daughter had run away from home on Dec 3.
She said her daughter had also taken all her identification which includes her passport, Mykad and birth certificate.
"I got home from work that day and I found that she was gone and her documents were also missing," said Chin.
CCTV footage from their home revealed that the daughter, Venus Chin Jing Mun, was carrying a backpack while leaving the house.
A few days after her disappearance, Chin had received a message from her daughter's Wechat account which stated that she was fine and asked her mother not to look for her.
"I am safe now, do not look for me. I will go home later. I do not want to appear because I am not your worker, do not look for me, I will go home," read the message.
Chin, who was visibly distraught, said that she is worried for her daughter's safety as it has already been 20 days since her disappearance.
MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong who held a press conference urged the public who are aware of Venus' whereabouts to come forward.
"We don't know where she is, she could be involved with some bad people who could be using her to be involved in prostitution or drugs," he said.
He said that the daughter ran away because her mother had allegedly mistreated her and "treated her like a dog".
"Her mother just made her do house chores like any other parent, she was not being mistreated," he said.
Chin said that she had made a police report and urged anyone who has seen her daughter to come forward.
