PETALING JAYA: Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd celebrated early Christmas with the Orang Asli Christian communities in Selangor and Pahang by helping them throw a Christmas party in their own villages.

Sports Toto has been collaborating with Strategic Education Methods & Ongoing Advancements Bhd (SEMOA), a non-governmental organisation to develop the Orang Asli community in the country, since 2013 to celebrate the festive season with the indigenous community.

In fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Sports Toto contributed RM30,000 cash to SEMOA to spread the spirit of sharing and joy so that the Orang Asli can celebrate Christmas in their villages.

"We hold on to the principle that everyone deserves to share the joy of festive seasons and we hope that through our little gesture of gifting, all of us can learn to spread the meaningful value of sharing and caring to our friends and family.

"We used to celebrate Christmas with the Orang Asli at the SEMOA centre where the NGO provides accommodation for the Orang Asli children to go to school.

"However, the Christmas celebration for this year is slightly different as the community has requested to celebrate the festive season in their villages. We visited one of the villages and joined in their celebration," said Sports Toto's communications manager, Giam Say Khoon.

On Dec 17, the Sports Toto team armed with Christmas presents went to Kampung Kepong Kuchai in Bentong and celebrated with a Christmas carolling performance, followed by a sumptuous luncheon prepared by the villagers.

A total of nine Orang Asli villages in Selangor and Pahang benefited from Sports Toto's contribution.

Sports Toto conscientiously carries out various festive CSR programmes throughout the years, which include the Chinese New Year Ang Pow Donation Campaign, Raya goodwill visits to government hospitals, Deepavali charity donation drive as well as the Harvest and Gawai cheers with the underprivileged in East Malaysia.
