Road users advised to plan their trip

SHAH ALAM: Holiday goers are advised to plan their journey as there is an influx of vehicles on the road today.
Road Safety Department (JKJR) deputy director general Datuk Roslan Eusoff said road users must follow the schedule prepared by Plus Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) to avoid getting caught in traffic congestion, especially during the festive season.
"In conjunction with the school holidays and the Christmas celebration, road users must plan their trip before starting their journey.
"They need to have an initiative to check the time given by PLUS and utilise the Rest and Recover area to regain energy before continuing to drive," Roslan said during a special programme in conjunction with the Christmas celebration and school holidays at Plaza Tol Batu 3 organised by Selangor JKJR here.
He added that some road users are still neglecting to fasten on their safety belts.
Roslan said this includes backseat passengers.
"The function of the backseat belt is not to evade an accident but it is to lower the risk of severe injury should they meet with an accident.
"The awareness about this is still low even after the campaign was introduced in 2009," he said.
Meanwhile, 100 goodie bags with road safety brochures were distributed to motorists during the special programme.
Sixty new helmets were also distributed to motorcyclists near the Batu Tiga toll.
