Fake accessories worth RM6,000 seized in Sungai Petani

SUNGAI PETANI: The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry's (KPDNKK) office, here, seized imitation fashion accessories such as handbags, watches and purses valued at RM6,000 in a raid at a major shopping centre kiosk, today.
Sungai Petani KPDNKK head, Shaarani Miskat said the operation which involved four enforcement personnel, led by assistant enforcement officer Mohd Affandi Abd Rahman, was conducted after receiving a complaint from the owner of a trademark three days ago.
"In the operation at 11.30 am, the kiosk was found displaying and selling fake accessories with brands such as Bonia, Sembonia, Carlo Rino and Hermes.
"In the raid, we seized 22 hangbags, 13 purses and 61 watches of various brands valued at about RM6,000," he told reporters at his office, today.
He said an investigation paper was opened under Section 8(2)(b) of the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 and the owner of the kiosk was being tracked down. — Bernama
