Maintain and defend religious tolerance among races: Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called on Malaysians to maintain and defend religious tolerance among the various races.
"Peace and harmony is not easy to be created and hence, I urge all Malaysians to do their utmost best to defend this religious tolerance as it will ensure Malaysia always remains peaceful and stable," he said when officiating the national level Christmas open house celebration here today.
He also reminded the public not to be influenced by internal or external parties who attempt to threaten peace and stability in the country.
"It is our duty to defend this," he stressed.
Also present at the launch were Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Loga Bala Mohan, and Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid revealed that the Tourism Ministry will kickstart a new campaign next year entitled '#SayangMalaysia' with the aim of promoting local destinations to attract both foreigners and locals to spend their holidays here.
