KUANTAN: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has submitted its investigation papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) for action against an express bus driver who was shown using a handphone and smoking while driving in a video that went viral on social media.
SPAD senior general manager (enforcement) Datuk Che Hasni Che Ahmad said this came about after SPAD obtained the particulars of the driver, the express bus company director and the complainant.
Speaking after attending a special operation against express buses at the Kuantan Sentral Terminal here on Wednesday, Hasni urged passengers to submit complaints directly to the commission when drivers are found committing acts detrimental to safety.
A 24-hour SPAD hotline number is displayed on all express buses.
"Passengers must provide details (of the incident)," he said, adding that SPAD will act immediately by contacting the operator of the express bus alleged to be at fault.
He reminded express bus drivers to give priority to the safety of passengers and other road users.
Che Hasni said SPAD would conduct a special audit on express buses found to have been involved in multiple offences, but declined to elaborate. – Bernama
