PETALING JAYA: Qualitas Medical Group Sdn Bhd plans to expand vertically by opening at least three ambient care centres in the Klang Valley this year.
Founder, chairman and managing director Datuk Dr Noorul Ameen Mohamed Ishack said the timely expansion was part of the company’s strategic plan following a conducive environment, backed up by technology and demand.
He said the operations of the ambient care or day-care centre would be carried out in association with specialists who would do their rounds to carry out medical procedures that would be cheaper than in hospitals.
“Being hospitalised and getting a procedure done have become very expensive.
There is a demand from out-of-pocket payers, as well as insurance companies looking for avenue where procedures and specialist consultation can be done at a lower cost.
“The medical technology has evolved so much that you don’t need to be hospitalised to get the same procedures done. That is why we want to venture vertically into this,” he told Bernama.
Vertical growth is an expansion further along the supply chain, the act of expanding into new operations for the purpose of decreasing a company’s reliability on other firms in the process of production and distribution.
Noorul said the company has identified its first ambient centre to be located at the Eve Suites, Ara Damansara.
Work is in progress and the centre is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2017.
The second one, he said, would be somewhere in Ampang, Selangor and the third will likely be in Puchong, Selangor.
“After the Klang Valley, we plan to expand and spread across the country.
“In the next two to three years, we aim to have 12 to 15 day centres throughout the country,” he said.
On revenue, with 15 ambient centres, the segment was expected to contribute a significant ratio of about 30-35% to the group.
A Qualitas ambient care centre can be expected to perform procedures on outpatient setting such as scope, minor surgery, physiotherapy, fractures rehabilitation, physical and rehabilitation medicine, and day-care ward.
It will have almost all facilities that a hospital does, except for operation theatre, overnight recovery place for patient after anesthesia, and an intensive care unit.
