Five Myanmar nationals murdered

SERDANG: Five Myanmar nationals were killed by a group of armed men in Seri Kembangan here last night in what is believed to be a spillover of ethnic clashes in Myanmar.
In the incident that happened around 10pm, the five deceased men, together with 11 other friends were on their way back home after work at a factory nearby.
While walking along a desolate road, the factory workers were startled by two cars who were fast approaching them with the attackers on board.
"According to eyewitness reports, the suspects got out of the cars and attacked the victims, killing four of them, aged 20 to 25, instantly. One more victim succumbed to his injuries this morning," said Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Megat Mohd Aminuddin Megat Alias.
He also said that two other victims were seriously wounded and are in critical condition in the hospital.
"We have detained seven Myanmar men to help in investigations into the crime," he said.
"We are trying to determine what the motive of the murders were, whether it was racially charged, revenge or something else," he added.
The investigation is being carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
