More cash seized from 'Datuk' as MACC crack the whip
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) seized more cash worth RM550,000 from the secretary-general of a ministry – a "Datuk" – who was arrested on Wednesday for alleged graft.
According to sources in the MACC, the cash were recovered during a raid on one of the Datuk's son residence in USJ at Subang Jaya here today.
"Some of the cash seized were among Singapore Dollars, British Pound Sterling and Euros.
"The Datuk's son, in his 20's was called up and statements were recorded," the source said adding that no further arrest were made involving the investigation.
Meanwhile, MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki confirmed the matter when contacted.
More than RM5 million in cash and gold bars have been seized so far following the arrest of the Datuk, 59, at his home in USJ, Subang Jaya, near here while his two sons, aged 29 and 34, were arrested on the same day at MACC headquarters after they were called in for questioning.
The secretary-general and his two sons have been remanded seven days from Jan 5 until Jan 11 to facilitate further investigations into the case.
