Injured RMAF officer discharged

GEORGE TOWN: The Royal Malaysia Air Force (RMAF) officer, Lieutenant Hamdi Ahmad Hanafi, who suffered injuries in the aircraft crash at the Butterworth Airbase in December last year, has been discharged from hospital.
Hamdi's father, Ahmad Hanafi Talib, 63, said his 26-year-old son, who sustained injuries in the crash, is currently recovering at home.
"He had faced some trauma in the incident, I hope he will recover soonest," he told reporters at the chief minister's office in Komtar here today.
On Dec 2, an RMAF Beechcraft B200T aircraft from the RMAF base in Subang crashed near Terminal Peluru, Butterworth Airbase at 5.18pm.
Its pilot Major Kayamboo Chellah was killed in the incident, while three others were hurt, including Hamdi and another two RMAF officers, Captain Wai Lik, 27 and Sergent Mohd Sofi Azizan, 30.
Wai Lik's father, Wai Kam Sui, 60, said his son was scalded in the incident and is recovering in the Penang Hospital.
"He is eating well and recovering. He is expected to have another skin surgery this week," he said, adding that he hoped Wai Lik was able to celebrate Chinese New Year with the family members.
Meanwhile, Mohd Sofi's sister, Syukriah Azizan, 24, said her brother, currently is recovering well and is warded at the Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital (HAT Mizan) in Wangsa Maju.
She said Mohd Sofi needed to have another operation for his fractured leg.
"We are glad that he is showing positive signs of recovery," she said.
Earlier, Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng had handed RM5,000 in aid to the families of the three injured RMAF officers .
Lim also presented RM30,000 in financial contribution to Kayamboo's wife S. Usha, 42.
