Hold 'Act 355 Rally' in Titiwangsa Stadium: KuNan

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS can hold its "Act 355 Rally" in the Titiwangsa Stadium instead of Dataran Merdeka, which has been declared off-limits by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the ban holds but offered the stadium as an alternative.
"If they (PAS) want to, then we can let them use Titiwangsa Stadium," Tengku Adnan told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year celebration at a shopping mall here today.
He said no rallies are allowed in Dataran Merdeka regardless of whether it's organised by PAS, BN parties, or Opposition parties and any allegations of favouritism is unfounded.
Act 355 refers to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Bill tabled as a private member bill in Parliament by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who is Marang MP.
The bill drew widespread criticism from non-Muslims and liberal Muslims, with many labelling it a prelude to Hudud and dubbed it the Hudud Bill.
Tengku Adnan then reiterated that the amendments, which had since been refined and taken over by the government, are about strengthening the syariah courts instead of hudud.
"There is much confusion about this Bill. It is not about hudud, it is about improving the syariah court and its laws," he said.
He also refuted rumours that Umno is working with Amanah to topple the PAS-led Kelantan state government, saying the ruling party is not working with any Opposition party.
In this speech at the Chinese New Year event, Tengku Adnan said festivals and celebrations like these serve to unite the people and will also draw foreign tourists to experience Malaysia's diverse culture.
