KUALA LUMPUR: A nine-year-old girl who was allegedly snatched by an unidentified woman in Taman Desaria here on Monday was taken away by her biological mother and not abducted as claimed.
Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said today that checks by police showed that the girl who lived with her stepmother in Taman Desaria was taken away by her 34-year-old biological mother at about 3pm on Monday when she was outside her grandfather's house at Jalan PJS 5/11.
He said the girl's stepmother, also aged 34, lodged a police report on the girl's disappearance at about 9.30pm after learning from a friend that the girl was snatched by an unknown woman.
Mohd Zani said the girl's mother took her to her house in Kuala Kubu Baru before lodging a police report at about 11pm on the same day.
He said investigations are ongoing and the statements of both parties are being recorded.
It is learnt that that a feud between the girl's parents had led to the abduction.
The case went viral in cyberspace on Monday where a Facebook user alerted the public to assist in tracing the missing girl who was purportedly abducted.
