Security worker killed in children's playground

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A Malaysian who worked as a security personnel in Singapore died after he was attacked by a group of people at a children's playground, 200m away from his house at Taman Damai Jaya this morning.
The deceased identified as Yogeswaran Elangovan, 26, succumbed to his head injuries about 8.30am at Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Baru.
Iskandar Puteri police district chief, Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said the deceased who was having drinks with his cousin was attacked by a group of men when the latter (cousin) went to the toilet.
"When he returned, he saw a group of men attacking the deceased at the same time. The cousin immediately went to Yogeswaran's rescue and in the scuffle, he too got injured," he added.
He said the suspects fled from the scene in a car after they noticed both the victims bleeding from head and body injuries.
Noor Hashim advised members of the public not to drink alcohol in public places, especially at children's playground.
He said the suspects did not take any of the deceased valuables or belongings.
Police who classified the case under murder are trying to track down the suspects.
