Earthquake tremors in Limbang

MIRI: More than 100 workers from state government departments and agencies hurriedly exited their offices at the Limbang Plaza Building, in Limbang following tremors this afternoon.
Limbang Fire and Rescue Station chief Tawang Lingem said a call was received at 2.31pm when the workers in the nine-storey building felt the tremors.
"The workers felt disoriented (by the tremors) and were ordered to evict the building due to security reason. Strong tremors were felt on the seventh and eighth floor," he said when contacted today.
He said eight firemen including himself conducted a safety check and confirmed that the building was still sound and could be reentered at 3.05pm.
Malaysia Meteorological Department director-general Datuk Che Gayah Ismail told Bernama the quake, which measured 7.3 on the Richter scale, occurred at 2.13pm and had its epicentre 267km southeast of Isabel City in the Philippines and 466km north-east of Semporna in Sabah. — Bernama
