Zulhasnan Rafique presents credentials as Ambassador to United States

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Dr Zulhasnan Rafique has presented his credentials as Malaysia's new Ambassador to the United States to Mark E. Walsh, the acting Chief of Protocol of the United States.
The handing over of the credentials was held at an event in the US Department of State in Washington DC last Monday, according to a statement issued here today by the Malaysian Embassy in Washington DC.
It said Zulhasnan, who was accompanied by the Deputy Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Embassy in Washington DC, Shaiful Anuar Mohammad, was welcomed by Assistant Chief of Protocol Gladys Baludo.
Among those who witnessed the handing over of the credentials were the Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific, Daniel Russel, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific, Patrick Murphy, the statement said.
Zulhasnan was deputy federal territories minister from 2004 to 2006 and federal territories minister from 2006 to 2009.
He was the MP for Wangsa Maju from 1999 to 2004 and MP for Setiawangsa from 2004 to 2013. From 2014, Zulhasnan has been Chancellor of Geomatika University College Malaysia. — Bernama
