Man drowns in canal

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 24-year-old man was found drowned at a canal in Kampung Padang Temusu here early Wednesday morning.
Passers-by found the body of Mohamad Hazmi Ishak at about 8.30am and notified the authorities.
Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police believe the deceased fell into the canal from his motorcycle after suffering an epileptic fit.
He said the motorcycle of the deceased was found at the site and there were no witnesses to the incident.
"The body was sent to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital for a post mortem," he added when contacted by the media.
