Public converge at chief minister's residence to pay last respects to Adenan

KUCHING: People from all walks of life continue to flow to the residence of the late Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem at Damai Jaya, Santubong, near here to pay their last respects.
They began arriving since early morning.
The pallbearers, comprising police and army officers, are making preparations to bring the body from the residence to the Sarawak Jamek Mosque in Petra here soon.
Adenan's body will be laid at the mosque until 1pm for the public and dignitaries to pay their last respects before the burial, scheduled after the zohor (midday) prayer.
Adenan died due to heart complications at the Kota Samarahan Heart Centre near here at about 1.20pm yesterday.
Meanwhile, thousands of people from all walks of life have converged at the state mosque here to pay their last respects to Adenan although the remains has yet to arrive.
They included corporate leaders, community leaders and representatives of associations and non-governmental organisations, civil servants and ordinary folks.
A representative of Pok Ka Buddhist Temple, Christine Chiou was among those who arrived before 9am.
She said a large number of people from her temple would come later to pay their respects to Adenan whom she described was among the best chief minister for the state.
"I'm bringing these Lilies (flower) which signify purity," she said at the mosque. — Bernama
