Adenan Satem's passing makes front page of newspapers

    KUALA LUMPUR: The passing of Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem due to heart complications yesterday is the headline story of many newspapers today.
    Most of the newspapers also published bold headlines for the news, accompanied by black-and-white photographs of Adenan or famously known as Tok Nan.
    theSun said : "Adenan Satem 1944 - 2017", with an accompanying black-and-white photo of the Sarawak Chief Minister.
    Berita Harian said : "Al-Fatihah. Perginya seorang negarawan" (Al-Fatihah. A statesman is lost), Utusan Malaysia wrote "Perginya Tokoh Wibawa" (Lost a Strong Leader) while Harian Metro carried the news with the headline "Apai besar sudah tiada" (Father is Gone).
    New Straits Times front-paged Adenan with his photograph in black and white as well as "Tan Sri Adenan Satem (1944-2017)" as the headline while The Star, "Al-fatihah".
    Sarawak Tribune's headline is "A day full of sadness and Utusan Sarawak on its front page, carried "Sarawak berkabung 7 hari" (Sarawak Mourns for 7 Days), Utusan Borneo with 'Al-Fatihah' while Sin Chew wrote "When you've gone, we all cried".
    In addition to the news and photographs, some newspapers also carried the chronology of events and infographics related to Adenan's contributions, his background, famous quotes and his lifetime achievements.
    Adenan, 72, who served as Chief Minister for almost three years died at about 1.20 pm yesterday at the Sarawak Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan, near Kuching.
    A seven-day mourning period was declared yesterday with the Sarawak flag to be flown at half mast.
