Two men ordered to enter defence on drug trafficking charge

TAIPING: The High Court here today ordered two men to enter their defence on a charge of trafficking in almost 3,000g of drug three years ago.
Judicial Commissioner Mohamed Zaini Mazlan made the order after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against V. Nadarajan, 30, and R.Vikneswaran, 30.
The court set Feb 13,14,15, 22 and 23 to hear the defence by the two men.
Nadarajan and Vikneswaran were charged with trafficking in 2975.81g of cannabis at the car park of Pasaraya TF Value Mart, near Sungai Siput Utara, at about 7.20pm on Jan 14, 2014.
They are charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which is punishable under Section 38B (2) of the same law.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Azrul Faidz Abd Razak prosecuted, while Nadarajan and Vikneswaran were represented by lawyers Ranjit Singh and P.Ravi, respectively. — Bernama
