Fire breaks out at Jalan Raja Alang

KUALA LUMPUR: Fire broke out at a building under construction at Jalan Raja Alang, Kampung Baru, here yesterday.

The fire was believed to have started on the 17th floor of the 30-storey building.

It then spread to the 27th floor through the elevator shaft.
City Fire and Rescue Department chief operations officer Samsol Maarif Saibani said the department received distress calls about the incident at 7.44pm.
The team, comprising fire and rescue personnel from the Hang Tuah, Titiwangsa, Gombak and Sentul fire stations, brought the fire under control at 9pm.
It is learnt that construction materials such as wood and PVC pipes that were on the 25th, 26th and 27th floor were on fire.

"The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no casualties reported. ," he added.
