GEORGE TOWN: The RM435,000 repair works on the hill road linking Mount Erskine to Vale of Tempe Road in Tanjung Bungah completed ahead of time after an ultimatum given by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng
Lim said he was pleased the works finished about four days earlier than the seven-day given by him.
He said this shows that the state government is committed and strive to fulfil promises made to the people.
He was wondering why a massive hole at Fukuoka city in Japan could be repaired within a week but a stretch of affected area in Vale of Tempe road took three months.
However, he was now happy with JKR and the contractor's efforts to patch up the road efficiently.
"This is what we want," he said after officially reopened the hilly road today.
Present were state Works, Utilities and Transportation committee chairman Lim Hock Seng, state Public Works Department (JKR) director Ahmad Redza Goulam.
Hock Seng, when met, said heavy machinery vehicles will not be allowed to use the road to ensure the condition is taken care of.
Heavy rainfall and landslip on Oct 13 last year caused the road to collapse prompting swift response by authorities to close off the road for safety.
