Schoolgirl arrested for making allegedly offensive social media post

MIRI: A 17-year-old schoolgirl from Mukah in Sarawak has been arrested today after allegedly made an offensive post made on social media against the late Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Sarawak Crime Investigation Department (CID) Chief SAC Datuk Dev Kumar said that the CID in Mukah arrested the girl at 10.45am.

"We police have also seized her mobile phone for investigation.
"Several police reports have been lodged against her in a few districts over comments she allegedly posted concerning the late chief minister," he said when contacted.
The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
So far, at least 40 police reports have been lodged in 12 police districts throughout Sarawak against seven Facebook posts against the late Adenan that were deemed offensive, defamatory or inflammatory, he added.
Until now, five individuals have been arrested, four from Kuching, Sibu, Miri and Mukah in Sarawak, and one from Kuantan, Pahang.
