Three men plead not guilty to gang-robbery

SEREMBAN: Three men, two of them juveniles, pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to committing gang-robbery.
Muhammad Hanafi Makhtar, 18, and two others, aged 17, were charged with committing the offence when armed with a machete at a 24-hour convenience store at Taman Tunku Jaafar, Sungai Gadut, Senawang here at 4.20 am on Dec 28 last year.
They are charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 397 of the same law, which provides and imprisonment for up to 20 years and whipping, if found guilty.
Deputy public prosecutor Soo Kok Weng did not offer bail, but lawyer Ardelliza Izmaryanti Shafie, representing the three accused, requested her clients to be allowed bail as they were still young and had to care of their parents.
Judge G. Ramesh then set bail at RM4,000 in one surety each for the two juveniles, and RM6,000 in one surety on Muhammad Hanafi.
The court also set Feb 14 for mention. — Bernama
