SERDANG: Police arrested 25 suspects to facilitate investigations into the murder of five Myanmar workers at the Seri Serdang Industrial area, Seri Kembangan on Jan 6.
Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmad said the arrests were made in stages following the murders during a brawl.
Those arrested, he added, include locals, Myanmar national and Rohingya's in their 20's and 50's and some were released on bail after recording statements.
Although the Inspector General of Police Tan Seri Khalid Abu Bakar said last week that the brawl which led to the killings may have been the result of ethnic clashes between the Myanmar nationals, Fadzil chose to remain tight lipped on the motive of the killings.
"The case is still being investigated, we will conclude it soon," he told reporters at the Serdang police headquarters where he witnessed Serdang police chief ACP Megat Mohd Aminuddin destroy 1,312 computer units and gambling machines worth RM140,000.
Meanwhile, Fadzil also disclosed that three policemen were suspended after they were caught last week for unauthorized use of clone cars, a lesson for other policemen not to commit a similar offence.
"Police are investigating where they bought these cars - a BMW, a Mini Cooper,a Honda Accord and a Toyota Estima," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 29(1) of the Minor Offences Act.
Megat, meanwhile, said that they had obtained a court order to dispose the gambling machines which were confiscated throughout last year.
"In the 422 raids carried out last year, we confiscated 5,949 computer units with the arrest of 478 suspects," he added.
