GEORGE TOWN: Newly awarded FIFA Puskas winner Mohd Faiz Subri is all fired up to score more goals for Penang when the Malaysian Super League (MSL) kicks off this Saturday.

He said he was optimistic on his chances but stopped short of giving a figure, insisting the ultimate aim was to help the team finish as high as possible in the table.

"My target is to assist the team to win and to continue to improve on my performance.

"The most important thing is to play for the team and play to win," he said in a press conference yesterday with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

He earlier received a RM50,000 cheque from Lim as a reward for winning the FIFA award as a result of his wonder goal against Pahang during the 2016 season.

He become the first Asian footballer to win the prestigious award for the best goal of the year.

Mohd Faiz scored two goals during the 2016 campaign which saw Penang narrowly avoiding relegation.
