Eight houses destroyed in Kinarut fire

KOTA KINABALU: Eight houses were destroyed in a fire in Kampung Pituru Kinarut, near here today but no fatality was reported.
The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sabah said in a statement that the department received a distress call at about 7.02am and arrived at the scene about 22 minutes later.
"Nineteen personnel and five engines were rushed to the scene and the firemen managed to bring the fire under control at about 8am," the statement said.
According to the statement, the cause of the fire and total losses were being investigated. — Bernama
