PETALING JAYA: Ben, the 100-year-old tortoise which went missing from its owner's home last Friday has been found safe and sound.
Ben's owner, MCA's Religious Harmony bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said that he had collected his beloved pet from a local council zoo near his home in Kuantan on Monday evening.
"He (Ben)'s good. My children had traced the van from the CCTV and approached them for information.
"This eventually led to the recovery of the tortoise from the local council zoo," he told theSun when contacted, today.
Ti also clarified that Ben had crawled out of his house after someone forgot to close the gate last Friday.
"The van driver who discovered Ben outside my house, picked him up and sent it to the zoo as they thought it was a lost pet," he added.
On Monday, Ti had posted on Facebook that his centenarian tortoise, Ben, was spirited away by two men when the front gate of his Kuantan home was accidentally left open.
He had expressed worry that Ben which was a gift from a friend could have been poached for meat during its disappearance.
