SOCIAL media was abuzz recently when pictures of a lorry loaded with dead chickens went viral. The lorry, bearing a Penang based registration plate, was seen refuelling at a local gas station.
Pictures of the fowl hearse quickly made it's way online giving many Malaysian netizens preparing to welcome the Year of the Rooster a nasty surprise.
Some netizens speculated that the chicken carcasses were to be sold for RM2 per bird to chicken rice restaurants who were more than willing to pay below market rate for their main ingredient.
It is learned that the incident had taken place in Perak. Local authorities were quick to respond with the Perak Veterinary Department and Road Transport Department launching respective investigations into the matter.
