Govt yet to decide on rewarding parties which locate missing MH370 jetliner

BAGAN DATUK: The Malaysian Government has yet to decide on rewarding parties which manage to locate the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 jetliner which vanished in 2014.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said despite receiving such a proposal from various quarters, the government would not decide on the reward until there was strong evidence (on the aircraft).
"This proposal (on the reward) came from the transport deputy minister (Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi) and I have also received many suggestions from several parties on how we should continue with the search operations for MH370.
"I'm stressing here that we will not make any decision as long as we don't have credible (new) evidence," he told reporters after launching the 'My Perak' official account on WeChat application in Hutan Melintang here today.
Liow said although the search for the ill-fated plane spanning over two years was now suspended after it bore no result, this did not mean that the Malaysian Government would permanently cease the (search) operations.
"We're still continuing to look at the evidence and details and will keep giving answers to the victims' families to resolve the issue.
"The search vessel will arrive in Perth, Australia on Sunday ... The Australian transport minister and I will be there to look at the search data and at the same time, to thank the search team," he said.
On Tuesday, the Malaysian, Australian and Chinese governments issued a joint communique to announce the suspension of the search for the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft after unsuccessfully scouring 120,000km² of the southern Indian Ocean.
The disappearance of Flight MH370 has been touted as one of the world's greatest aviation mysteries after the jetliner carrying 239 passengers and crew members vanished from the radar while en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur on March 8, 2014.
Its final flight path was believed to have ended in the southern Indian Ocean. — Bernama
