PETALING JAYA: The police have detained a man in connection with the assault of a lorry driver by a group of men at the Puncak Athenaeum Condominium car park in Bukit Antarabangsa here last Saturday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the Ampang police had been instructed to track down the suspect's accomplices to face the full wrath of the law.
"We cannot allow such matter to recur as if there are no laws in the country. Those involved in the assault should turn in at the Ampang police station.
"Otherwise, we (the police) will turn up at their doorstep as we know who they are," he told a press conference after launching 'Op Selamat 10/2017' at Persada Plus here today, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year.
Khalid however, did not divulge details of the arrest.
He denied that a prominent person with the honorific title of 'Datuk' was involved in the case.
The case went viral on social media with the almost three-minute video recording of the assault on the lorry driver. — Bernama
