Treasure hunters sink their teeth in at Food & Fun Hunt
IT was a treasure hunt with a difference when Swiss-Garden Resort Beach Damai Laut in Lumut organised its Food & Fun Hunt from Jan 13 to 15.
Since eating is one of life's pleasures, having food as the central theme of the hunt was a brilliant idea. It offered the participants opportunities to sink their teeth into some of Perak's famous local fare.
The event was jointly organised with Time Out Solution, a treasure hunt specialist. It saw 61 media, bloggers and social media practitioners participating in the inaugural hunt.
A pre-hunt clinic was conducted prior to the event which combined various activities such as food challenges, puzzles, questions and answers, treasure hunts and Facebook contest.
Patrick Tee, the General Manager of Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut said: "The Food and Fun Hunt is a fun way to discover places of interest as well as local cuisines unique to the state of Perak.
It is also Visit Perak Year 2017 and the event is an ideal platform to promote tourist attractions and discover Perak's history, culture and heritage"
The hunt commenced at the Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur with the official flag-off by Tee. Participants visited the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan, Tua Pek Gong Temple in Kampung Pasir Panjang, Marina Wing in Lumut, Kellie's Castle, Segari Turtle Sanctuary, Muzium Beruas and Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge. They also sampled a range of local delicacies such as James Chendol, Mee Hailam Parit, Paksu Laksa in Tebuk Yan and Bubur Perak prior to checking in at the resort.
The highlight of the event was the Turtle Release Programme courtesy of the Segari Turtle Santuary and the Department of Fisheries in Perak. About 30 green turtles were released as part of the resort's Turtle Awareness Programme, aimed at educating the public on the types of turtles found in Malaysia, their habitat as well as to increase awareness on turtle conservation efforts.
The hunt culminated in a Gala Beach Dinner and prizes were awarded to the top five winners based on scores obtained during the two-day hunt. The winners were from Team 6, The Asian Publisher comprising Angeline Lee Bee Cheen, Philemon Foo Choong Ming and Emily Lowe Poh Choo.
