Movie Review - Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

23 Jan 2017 / 16:36 H.

PICKING up right after the events in Retribution (the fifth instalment in the Resident Evil series), Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor among the undead after the T-virus outbreak spread across the world.
Now, she is on a mission to return to The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces to wipe out the remaining uninfected survivors.
Along the way, she meets old friends and joins forces with them in a race against time to stop the Umbrella Corp.
Coming from a person who hasn’t watched any of the Resident Evil series before, I have to say I am pretty impressed with the entire pace of the film.
There is a good amount of action scenes that keep me at the edge of my seat most of the time. The storyline is also fairly easy to follow, though with several plot holes.
Still, it’s not so brilliant that it will win any awards if you ask me.
I find some parts extremely unrealistic – despite the fact that it is a sci-fi film and anything is possible, but it is executed in a way that makes the film look so tacky.
It also makes Alice look like the typical perfect main character who is able to save the day regardless how tough and unrealistic the situation.
Speaking of Jovovich, it is hard to connect with her because she is very emotionless, but this is excusable because that is the ideal personality for Alice. I might have a connection with her if I had followed the previous instalments.
In conclusion, don’t think too much about the storyline and just enjoy the action scenes.
